Today, Thursday, April 23, 2020 Tarrant County reported 1,559 COVID-19 cases. This is up from 1,333?reported on Tuesday, April 21 for a total of 226 new cases. {{more:? continue…}}?

Dallas County has recorded 2,683 while Texas has reported 21,944 cases statewide (up 1,748?from 20,196). Meanwhile, Kennedale remains at 2 cases recorded with 1 recovery.

Cases by race/ethnicity sees significant change …

In an apparent accounting procedural change, the stats for race and ethnicity changed significantly with 29% of cases classified as “White” down from 41%.? Hispanic counted for 26% of the case in the revised statistics up from 21% while “Not reported” grew to 21% of the total up from 9%. African Americans saw a drop from 21% to 18%.

Recoveries are on the rise and the curve for new cases is increasing but at a slower pace.?

In the first ten days of reporting by the county, Tarrant’s case count was doubly every day. It is now doubly at a slower rate at approximate intervals of a just over?5 days. It has held steady for the past week.

State officials still expected to see a leveling of the numbers statewide by the beginning of May but the actual numbers will vary from location to location within the state.?

Tarrant County reported 45 deaths (up 3) with 265 recoveries (up 42). There are 151 currently hospitalized (up 19). Dallas County has documented 65 deaths (up 5).?

The State of Texas has 561 documented deaths (up from 517). Texas? has reported an incease of those hospitalized rising from 1,419 to 1,649 (up 230) along with 8,025 estimated recoveries (up 1,539)?from 6,486.?

The City of Kennedale has no new case in the past week and remains at a total of 2 but list one recovery with no deaths registered. No addition information provided.?

The border cities of Kennedale in the last two days all had increases with the exception of Everman. Fort Worth had 111 new cases. Forest Hill was up 2 cases. Mansfield had 8 new and Arlington added 48 cases.?

75% of cases are ages 24-64, 53% are males along with 67% of deaths but most of those are age 65+ (updated figures) …?

As more cases in the county are documented, a clearer picture is emerging of who is affected by the the coronavirus and who is dying from it. It is not only an “old peoples” illness.?

The overall majority (75%) getting the disease are breadwinners between the ages of 24 and 64 and it is more likely that the guys (53%) that will fall ill to virus as oppose to their female counterparts at 47%.

This has been a consistent finding since Kennedale News first started reporting the county stats. It should be noted that Texas statewide stats show a closer male to female ratio.?

However, a majority of deaths are in the older ages (64+) with 60% of all cases reported.

There are no deaths from birth to 24. For the age range 25-44 the percentage is 9% and rises to 31% for the age group 45-64. Grouped together, the age group 45 and up account for 91% of all deaths.?

The breakdown of illness reported by age group follows a somewhat similar path as the reported deaths with just 1% reported for ages birth to 14, 7% for ages 15-24, and 35% for the 25-44 age bracket.

It grows to 40% for the middle ages of 45 to 64 but drops to 17% for the elder generation of 65+. If you combine the two middle groups ages 24-64, they account for 75% of all cases of COVID-19 reported in Tarrant County todate.?
