Wow! It’s been 10 years! I would like to thank all our wonderful and faithful customers for supporting The Mission Store. {{more:Read more …}}
I love to hear how much you look forward to coming in every week to see what we have that is new. Speaking of new, we are always getting new items to sell, because of the support we get from the Kennedale Community through donations.
We could not do all we have done, if it wasn’t for you. All proceeds made here in The Mission Store goes to outreach and mission work here in our community and beyond.
So standing back and looking at The Mission Store over the past 10 years, I see a place for friends to come in each week, to visit and to shop for bargains, being wise with their money. I see a place that promotes reducing waste through donations, instead of throwing it away. Recycling is for those who expect more out of themselves and society. I see a place where when disaster strikes, a family can let us know and we can supply anything in our store they need for no cost. I see a place that helps the hungry, and yes even our neighbors here in Kennedale, are hungry and go without food. Kennedale residents can come get a jumbo bag of groceries on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month. They need only show their ID. Lastly I see a place where God is at work through the lives of our precious volunteers who have staffed our store for the last 10 years. Why do they give of themselves? Because they have been called to serve our community and those in need.
I want to thank all the wonderful people who give their time to run our store. They are, George Casablanca, Larry & Dolores Smith, Kathy Harris, Kathy Moore, Laurie Sanders, Hayley and Kacey Pardee, Edith Fountain, Gloria Villaire, Eddie Gay Johnson, Wendy Milne, Kay Lyon, Cora Lee Dover, Vinita Thomas, Jill Conditt, Gloria Nash, June Stafford, Jenifer Dunham and last but surely not least, Rev. Phyllis Modgling, who had this vision of an outreach store right here in Kennedale, some 10 years ago. Phyllis has retired now, but her dream is still living on through the members of First United Methodist Church and the gracious people of our community.
Serving here as store manager has sure blessed me and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone.”
