The Mineral Wells Rams (6-1, 2-0), a senior heavy team, are in the midst of revival. Last year the Rams recorded their best record at 10-3 since 1985 when they were 11-1. This year, their goal for the regular season is to improve on last year?s record and capture a district title, their first since 2010.
 
Mineral Wells has 24 returning letterman with seven starters on offense and seven on defense.
 
Coach Gerald Perry is in his 8th year as a head coach with the last two at Mineral Wells. Last year Mineral Wells was 10-3, 4-1 and finished in 2nd place in District 4-4A. They went three deep into the playoffs, eventually losing out to Brownwood 23-13 in regional play.

Mineral Wells, in 7 seven games has averaged 255.9 yards per game, passing for a total of 1,791 yards at a .572 completion rate. On the ground, the Rams average 201.9 yards per game for a total of 1,413 yards at 6.1 a carry.
 
The Rams have averaged 43 points per game while allowing 36 points.
 

The Rams lone loss came at the hands of Iowa Park this year (45-29) in the 4th game of the season. In that game, Mineral Wells had over 440 yards through the air but was held to 86 yards on the ground.

 
Their passing game rest in the hands of senior #9 Tristan Perry who is 93-155 (60%) for 1576 yard and 20 TDs. His favorite receiver is senior #13 Jordan Duckett who has 29 catches for 670 yards (23.1 av) and 11 TDs. Junior #86 Carlos Gray has 16 receptions for 320 yards (16.7) and 5 TDs. Senior #Cameron Weiss follows with 18 catches for 204 yards (11.3av) and 3 TDs.
 
Top rusher is senior #33 Johnny Morales with 504 yards (5.5 av) and 5 TDs. He is followed by senior #28 Aaron Lentz with 354 yards (6.9 av) and 5 TDs.
 

Defensively, they like to spend some time in their opponent?s backfield with 21 tackles for losses. Overall, they average 82.3 tackles per game. Top tackler is senior safety #27 Derek King with 72 (10.3av). He is followed by senior linebacker #2 Stefon Sandoval with 56 (8av) and sophomore linebacker #29 Brandon Hinojos with 50 (7.1av). Senior defensive end #85 Andy Garcia leads the team with 8 sacks.

 
The defense has recovered 9 fumbles returning 2 for TDs and intercepted 7 passes returning one for TD and blocked one field goal.
 
Special teams have returned a punt and a kick-off for TDs. Senior kicker # 37 Garbriel Bonifacio is 39 for 41 in PATs and 1 for 2 in field goals.
 
Cats under construction sign removed ?
 
Kennedale has been ?under construction? since the beginning of the year but has slowly put together a true Richard Barrett type team ? aggressive, tough and disciplined. If they exhibit that, as they did in the Springtown game, expect one heck of a game Friday night in Mineral Wells.
