Tuesday night in Graham, Texas a little bit of school history was made. The Kennedale Wildcat boys soccer program advanced to the regional quarterfinals for the first time by beating Wichita Falls Hirschi 2-1 in overtime. {{more: continue …}}The Wildcats also extended the school?s total wins in a season to 18 and they currently own the longest consecutive win streak at seven games.

The same evening, the Kennedale LadyKats advanced to the region 1 quarterfinals. This is familiar territory for them, they have claimed bi-district and area titles the last five years. On Friday, they beat the Lady Eagles from Hirschi by a score of 1-0 and won their 6th area title.?

The Wildcats (18-11-1) now one of only 32 teams left in the 4A playoffs will face off against a good Argyle team (16-5-2) out of District 7-4A. The Argyle Eagles came in second behind Bridgeport 14-6-2 which was upset by Western Hills in first round of the playoffs. Kennedale has a 9-3 district record while Argyle has a district 6-3 record. Neither have played each other this season but Argyle has had some success against teams from Kennedale?s home district 8-4A. In earlier contests, the Argyle Eagles defeated Western Hills, Castleberry and then Diamond Hill 3-1 in the first round. In area round this week, the Argyle Eagles defeated Mineral Wells 5-1.

The Kennedale LadyKats return to the region quarterfinals after defeating Wichita Falls Hirschi last night 1-0. Kennedale (15-9-1) and co-champions from District 7-4A will play Stephenville (19-1-2), champions of District 6-4A. Stephenville plays in a 3 team district which included Mineral Wells (17-6-1) and Brownwood (10-9-1). Stephenville does own a 1-0 win over Kennedale in early season play. (Side Note: These two teams own the state title three out of the last 4 years ? Stephenville in 2017 and Kennedale in 2015 and 2016).?

- Girls ? Area round: Kennedale (15-9-1) defeated WF Hirschi 1-0 and play Stephenville (19-1-0) in a Region I quarterfinal game. Castleberry (20-3-0) defeated Brownwood 3-2 and play Argyle (16-5-2) in a Region I quarterfinal game.
- Boys ? Area round: Kennedale defeated WF Hirschi and play Argyle (16-5-2) in a Region I quarterfinal game. Western Hills lost to Stephenville 3-1. Castleberry (16-8-1) defeated Graham 2-0 and will play Stephenville (17-8-4) in a Region I quarterfinal game
