Cats extra inning grinder ends with 3-2 loss

For the second straight game the Kennedale Wildcats have gone into extra innings but this one didn?t end well as Midlothian Heritage got a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to win 3-2. {{more:[Read more]}}
 
It was doubly disappointing to the Cats who in their final regular season game had hoped to move up into a 2nd place tie with Venus. Venus had lost to #1 Godley 11-0 on Tuesday. Kennedale (10-15-1, 5-5) is now in a third place tie with Heritage (8-15, 5-5) in District 7-4A.
 
The Cats led 2-0 going into the 5th when Heritage forged a tie with two runs. The game remained knotted through the next four innings of play before Midlothian?s first three batters got hits in the bottom of the 10th with a double and two singles and winning run.
 

pitching duel ?

 

Kennedale pitcher, {{t2:Bryce Hackett: }}, pitched the full game allowing three earned runs on eight hits. Hackett faced 40 batters throwing 114 pitches with 83 strikes and had 8 strike outs. He recorded 12 groundouts and 8 flyouts. In only 2 innings did he face more than 4 batters and he had 4 innings of 3 and out. Unfortunately for him the Wildcats left 12 runners on base. The Cats also recorded 3 errors.

 
Opposing pitcher for Midlothian, Clark, also pitched the full game, allowing 2 unearned runs on 10 hits. He faced 43 batters throwing 105 pitches with 72 strikes and 1 strike out. He had 12 groundouts and 15 flyouts. Clark had three 3 and out innings but he had 5 innings where he more than 4 batters. Midlothian left 6 men on base. Midlothian recorded no errors.
 
Ethan Wood went 2 for 4 with 1 run. Scoring the other Kennedale run was Brayden Sewell who had one hit and a walk. Also getting hits were Aaron Herrera (2-4), Cody Bossaller (1-5), Jordan Pough (2-4) and Austin Crabtree (2-4).
 
As it now stands, Kennedale is set to play Decatur next week in a best of three playoff series in first round UIL State 4A Baseball Playoffs.
