In conjunction with Tarrant County Elections Administrator, the City Council last month approved an election calendar for 2013 with an election date set May 11, 2013 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Place 1, 3 and 5 on the Council will be on the ballot.?These positions are currently held {{more}} by Charles Overstreet (Pl 1), Brian Johnson (Pl 3) and Frank Fernandez (Pl 5). These positions are 2 year terms from May, 2013 to May, 2015. Specifically, the City Council is provided with, but not limited to, the following powers:
- To enact municipal legislation.
- To appoint or elect and to remove, after a hearing, all persons appointed or elected by the City Council.
- To establish the compensation for all City officers.
- To create, change, or abolish all offices and agencies created by the Charter; and to assign additional duties and powers consistent with the Charter to officers, departments, and agencies of the City.
- To establish operating policy.
- To establish the boundaries of the City.
Qualified persons may file as candidates by filing applications in the office of the City Secretary from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, from January 30, 2013 through March 1, 2013.?Early voting starts Monday, April 29 and continues through Tuesday, May 7 at the Kennedale Community Center. Voting by mail can be done by contacting the Early Voting Clerk, P.O. box 961011, Fort Worth, TX 76161, not earlier than March 12 and not later than April 26th.
