City Manager George Campbell has announced the appointment of Brady Olsen as Director of Finance and Information Technology for the City of Kennedale. {{more: CONTINUE …}}Mr. Olsen will fill the position left vacant by the resignation of Krystal Crump in March of this year to assume a position as Assistant Finance Director for the City of White Settlement.
Mr. Olsen currently serves as Finance Director for the City of Commerce, Texas. In his role as Finance Director in Kennedale, Olsen will oversee the functions of the Finance Department; development and monitoring of the City?s $16.5 million annual budget; coordination of the annual financial audit; and management of the City?s investments.
In addition to Finance, this role also oversees Information Technology, Utility Billing, Municipal Court, and the Kennedale Public Library. Olsen will begin his duties in Kennedale on May 4, 2017, and he will report directly to the City Manager.
?Mr. Olsen has a comprehensive understanding of local government financial practices and a demonstrated record of achievement from both an education and practical experience perspective that will complement the strong financial management credentials of existing staff members,? Campbell said. ?We look forward to Mr. Olsen becoming a member of the City?s Leadership team.?
Before his current role at the City of Commerce, Olsen served as an Associate Analyst for Moody’s Investors Service, a bond credit rating corporation with an emphasis on local government, and for the State of Texas as a Legislative Budget Board Fiscal Note Analyst. This board analyzes agency performance and budgeting and prepares fiscal notes.
?Kennedale appears to be in solid financial shape, and I am excited to continue the standard of excellence established by my predecessors,? Olsen said. ?My goal is to provide the City Manager, City Council, and department heads with as much quality information as possible, so they can make the best decisions to benefit the City.?
Olsen received undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Economics from Texas A&M, where he was awarded a Graduate Merit Fellowship Grant for Texas A&M University. He went on to earn a Master of Public Service and Administration from the Texas A&M University Bush School of Government and Public Service. He is currently a member of the Government Finance Officer Association of Texas.
