DUTIES
- This role performs a wide variety of tasks necessary for the maintenance and repair of water and wastewater system infrastructure, including a variety of manual labor activities such as construction, installation, repair of meter leaks, water main breaks, valves, taps, manholes, cleanouts, fire hydrants and other related maintenance issues.
- This role will use a variety of heavy equipment such as: backhoe, dump trucks, flat beds, front end loaders, vacuum excavators, air compressors, and jack hammers while performing manual and semi-skilled tasks. Will also assist with parks and street functions as needed or required. Must be able to work on-call rotation; must be available for call back as needed for emergency situations.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six (6) months experience in construction trades, including work with utility systems and a variety of equipment
- Valid Class B CDL Texas driver?s license
- Class C Groundwater Certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (preferred); the City of Kennedale will consider training the right candidate who is eligible to obtain a Class D Certification within one (1) year of employment
- Crossed-trained to assist in the street department
- Ability to work outdoors and endure temperature extremes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, push, pull, squat, kneel, reach, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to operate equipment necessary for role duties listed above
- A post-offer drug screen and background check are required
PAY
- Starts at $15.00 hour, depending on qualifications, including certifications. The City of Kennedale is a member of TMRS, offering a 7% 2-to-1 match.
