?Social distancing is working, now is the time to double our efforts,? Abbott explains:
?As of noon today, 42,922 of Texans have been tested for
COVID 19. Of those tested, 3266 have confirmed
positive. Now there are 122 counties in
the state of Texas that have at least 1 reported case of COVID 19? 97% of
hospital beds still remain vacant… With heavy heart, I share with you that we
have lost 41 Texans to fatality, to COVID 19.? ? Governor Gregg Abbott
By executive order GA 14, The Governor extended Texas social
distancing protocols through April 30th and closed schools through
the month of April. This gives a
uniformed date of May 4th to allow schools to reopen if they choose
and if the threat is lessened.
The executive order also extends the essential business guidelines for another 30 days. All gyms, hair salons,
massage clinics, bars (non-pickup restaurants) and social gatherings must be
closed. Restaurants (pick up or delivery), grocery stores, hardware stores, service-based
companies and any infrastructure companies are defined as essential businesses. A non-essential business may work from
home when applicable.
Outside activities are encouraged as long as social-distancing
guidelines are followed. This includes
fishing, in which the need for fishing licenses has been deferred during this time. Freedom of movement is allowed for necessary activities.
Currently, Kennedale has zero reported cases of COVID
19. It is expected that Tarrant County, the
City of Kennedale and KISD to follow suit with the Governors orders and not
add additional constraints locally.
