Grades are out and Kennedale did well with a top grade within reach

The Texas Education Agency has released it official report card for public school districts across the state and Kennedale has circled in on a B+ rating (88). While it is not an A, it is within a hair?s breathe. (Note: the plus (+) sign was added by the Kennedale News and not one used by TEA). {{more: continue ?}} An ?A? is 90 and above while a B is 80 to 89.
This is a move up from last year when KISD scored an 84 out of 100.
Kennedale scored a B in each of the three major categories used in the evaluation ? Student Achievement (87), School Progress (89) and Closing the Gap (86) making it an 88 overall.

Student Achievement is a measure of how much the students know and are able to do at the end of the year. School Progress is a measurement of how a student over time and how that growth compares to similar schools. Closing the Gap compares how different groups of populations of students in a district are performing.?

Overall Kennedale scored a 92 in College, Career and Military Readiness under Student Achievement and scored a 100 in both English Language Proficiency and Student Achievement in the category of Closing the GAPS.?

  • Kennedale High School received an overall 89 (B) with an 88 for overall student achievement and a 90 (A) for school progress. KHS earned six distinctions* of seven possible in ELA/Reading, Mathematics, Social Studies, Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness and Comparative Closing the Gaps. Distinction designations are awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement in specific areas.
  • Kennedale Junior High received an overall 82 (B) with a student achievement grade of 78 (C) and a school progress grade of 83 (B). KJHS earned one distinction out of seven out for Science.?
  • James Arthur Intermediate earned an overall grade of 83 (B) with a student achievement score of 84 (B) and a school progress rating of 82 (B).
  • James Delaney Elementary earned an overall grade of 87 with a student achievement score of 88 and a student progress rating of 84. Delaney earned 4 of 4 possible distinctions in ELA/Reading, Mathematics, Postsecondary Readiness and Comparative Closings the Gaps.
  • R F Patterson Elementary earned an overall score of 76 (C) with a student achievement score of 75 and a school progress rating of 74. Patterson earned one of four possible distinction in Comparative Closings the Gaps.
