Never hear of ?Play Music on the Porch Day? Well, it is a recent event, sort of, since its inception was in 2013. According it its website last year at least 60 countries and over 600 cities participated in the movement. {{more: continue ?}}
The credit for this event is being credit to Brian Mallman, a Milwaukee born, Los Angeles based artist. His concept is simple ? just go outside and play. Do it alone or invite friends to gather on your porch or your favorite place. Of course, this being the media age, you are invited to share a video of the event with the hashtag #playmusicontheporchday.
For Mallman and a lot of people, music is universal. He feels that It can transcend differences and allow people to find a common ground. This year the international event falls on August 31
The Iron Wheel Antique Mall in Kennedale has declared a local International Play Music on the Porch Day for 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 31.
According to Pat Douty, ?there will be a music jam session at Iron Wheel Antiques and Gifts and everyone is welcome! At our last music jam we had guitar, mandolin, ukuleles AND BAGPIPES! (Yes, there was a jam session at the Iron Wheel before). We are a diverse group.?
