Grand Champions Again! Wildcat Band Tops at Princeton

For the second year running, the Wildcat Marching Band has been awarded First Place in both preliminary and finals competition at the Princeton High School Sounds of Fall Marching Festival.

On Saturday October 11th, the band competed against 28 other bands in all classifications to bring home the Grand Champion Trophy.
 
In prelims performance, the band was awarded the following trophies: Outstanding Music, Outstanding Marching, Outstanding Drumline, Outstanding General Effect, and Outstanding Band in Class 4A.
 
In finals, the band received: Outstanding Music and Outstanding Drumline.

This year?s show is entitled, ?ARCTIC MAJESTY?, featuring the original music of John M. Meehan. Movements of the show are: 1) The North Wind, 2) Glaciers, 2) Polaris, 4) Aurora Borealis. Percussion parts are written and arranged by Michael Huestis and DiMitri Higginbotham. The marching drill design is by Jeffrey K. Barge.
 
Regional UIL Competition up next
 

On Saturday, October 18th, the Wildcat Band will perform in the UIL Region 7 Marching Contest at Glen Rose HS. Then, on Saturday, October 25th, the band will compete in the UIL Area D Marching Championships. At the Area Contest, the Wildcat Band hopes to qualify for a 5th straight appearance at the Texas UIL State Marching Band Championships, to be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio on November 3rd.

Band Directors for the Wildcat Band are: Erol K. Oktay, DiMitri Higginbotham, Eleanor Babcock, and Benjamin Brown. Color Guard Instructor and Choreographer is Lacey McGowan. The Kennedale Band Booster Club President is Julie Huggins.
