Aaron Herrera from Kennedale High School has been named a Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association 2018 4A All-State player as an outfielder. {{more: continue …}}

He becomes the 27th name in 24 years to be added to the Wildcats?s honor roll of All-State/All-Star players and the first All-State player since 2012 when Zac Michener was so honored.?

It was announced earlier that Bryce Hackett was chosen for the State 2A-4A All-Star team, making him the 26th KHS player to make the wall of honor for Kennedale. See article at Hackett makes All-Star game

Herrera had an great year for the Wildcats with a fielding percentage of .967 and a batting average of .448. He had 47 hits, 25 doubles, 4 triples and 2 home-runs. He drove in 38 runs while crossing the plate 26 times for the Cats. He was also credited with 20 stolen bases during the season.

Herrera has earned district defensive player of the year the past two years and was named to the 1st Team in his sophomore year in 2016.

Wildcat All-State/All-Star history ?

After Kennedale?s first All-State player, Mike Trammell, in 1995. The Cats had at least one all-state or All-Star player the next 11 years. Missing ?07, the Cats went another five years adding another group of all-state players.?
?
The biggest year came in 2011 with the program’s only state championship team with five Wildcats honored as some of the best in Texas in their division. The five 2011 all-staters and/or all stars were Hayden Elrod, Kevin Marshall, Cameron Massengill, Jimmy Norris and Corey Taylor.

Up to 2011, Kennedale had never had more than 2 players in a single year. There were three Wildcats who won multiple years -?Dustin Duncan ?98 & ?99, Austin Newell ?05 & ?06 and Brady Capshaw ?08 & ?09. There has been one set of brothers who shared all-state honors ? Anthony ?04 and Mickey Norris ’11.

Others earning All-State honors not previously mention were Matt Disk ?96, Wes Bautovich ?97, Daniel Hommel ?98, Mark Biondi ?99, Brandon Pyles ?00, Adam Weller ?01, Joey Richardson ?02, Drew Hampton ?02, Marcus Phillips ?03, Jeremy Reagan ?03, Christian Cunningham ?05, Tyler Smith ?06, Benny Woodard ?08 and Wesley Roberson ?10.
