KJHS student above and beyond in computer skills

KJHS 8th grade student, Aamir Shaikh (pronounced “Shake”) because of his computer skills, will be a taking a more advanced program offered online this year. {{more}}
 
He will be allowed to take an online Java computer programming course from the Khan Academy during his Technology Application class with Ms. Ballew. Aamir recently learned to code graphics containing animation.
 
Aamir hopes to join the state qualifying computer programming team at KHS next year.
 
Aamir’s skills are not only with computers, last spring he won the 12U Texas State Singles Racquetball Championship held on March 21, 2015. He is currently ranked #1 in the State of Texas and #7 in the United States in his age group. Aamir, son of Azam & Mudasir Shaikh, began playing racquetball three and a half years ago at the Maverick Athletic Club in Arlington. He now plays at CERA in Fort Worth in a league consisting mainly of adults.

This is the third year for Aamir to win gold at the national event. Three years ago in 2013, at the National tournament held in Des Moines, Iowa, he won in the 10 and under division. In 2014, at the Nationals then 11 year old, Shaikh, won Gold in the 12 and under doubles and took the Silver medal in the singles.
