These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded

4/30 – Hit and Run Accident – 5100 block of N. Little School Road: At 9:15 p.m. a victim was attempting to make a right turn on red from Treepoint Drive onto Little School Road. The victim?s vehicle was struck in mid-turn by a vehicle travelling the same direction on Little School Road. The suspect vehicle, a gold mid-2000s Chevrolet pickup, left the scene without stopping.

5/1 ? Delivery of Controlled Substance – 1300 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:31 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the initial contact the officer observed the barrel of a firearm exposed from under the driver?s seat. The officer was notified by dispatch that the driver had an alert as a known narcotics user in the records management system. Before a second officer could arrive another car pulled up to the stop and attempted to make contact with the officer. He ordered the vehicle and occupants to a safe distance away and waited for his backup officer to deal with that vehicle. The driver was removed from the initial vehicle and handcuffed for officer safety. The handgun turned out to be an air soft gun modified to appear as a real firearm. A narcotics dog and handler responded from the Mansfield Police Department to check the vehicle. The dog alerted on the driver?s door where methamphetamine was found. Several items of paraphernalia were also in the vehicle along with a vial of liquid Ecstasy. The driver/suspect was placed under arrest but complained of chest pains. He was checked by paramedics and deemed to need transport to the hospital for a pre-existing medical condition. He was released pending further investigation and the issuance of a warrant for his arrest. The vehicle was impounded and the narcotics and contraband were placed in evidence.

5/1 ? Theft – Crestview Drive: At 12:28 p.m. a victim reported a missing firearm. The gun, a Taurus 9mm, was stolen from the master bedroom closet. The suspect is a family member who had been staying with the victim. The family member was not at home during the report. The gun box and owner?s manual were located in the guest bedroom.

5/1 – Criminal Mischief $750 to $2,500 – Oakwood Lane: At 5:25 p.m. a victim reported that his motorcycle was damaged while he was out of town. The victim stated that a possible suspect is his ex-girlfriend. The damage was estimated at $1,200.00.

5/2 – Evading Arrest Detention – Lookout Trail: At 1:00 a.m. an officer observed a speeding vehicle on Little School Road. As the vehicle approached the officer it slowed down before suddenly speeding up and turning into a residential area. The vehicle pulled into a private driveway where a large male dressed in black clothing jumped from the vehicle and entered the residence. The officer waited for backup officers and then contacted the female resident. She identified the suspect by name and called him to come to the front door where he was arrested for evading. The suspect told officers that he ran because he knew that he had warrants for his arrest and he doesn?t like dealing with the police. He was transported to jail for booking. .

5/3 – Driving While Intoxicated – 1100 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 10:19 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver and both passengers, all males, had been drinking at a bar on the Mansfield Highway. The driver was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment and was arrested for DWI. A friend was contacted and responded to take custody of the vehicle and the other two males. The driver was booked into jail and a warrant was obtained for a blood draw. The blood sample was placed in evidence.

5/3 – Accident Report/Giving False Information – 1300 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 11:58 a.m. a victim reported that earlier that morning she was stopped at the red light at Kennedale Parkway and I-20. A vehicle rear-ended hers and both vehicles pulled over to exchange information. The other driver gave false information but had on a shirt identifying him as a JPS Hospital employee. The case will be turned over to investigators for follow-up.

5/3 – Driving While Intoxicated – 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:56 p.m. officers were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated male in a store. On arrival the officers found an adult male seated in a red Hummer with the engine on and idling. The male was setting a bottle of gin in the console as officers approached. The driver was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment and was arrested for DWI. He was transported to jail for a voluntary breath test. The breath test results indicated the driver to be intoxicated. He was booked into jail.

5/6 – Driving While Intoxicated – 1000 block of Winding Creek Road: At 11:49 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for erratic driving. The driver, an adult male, smelled of an alcoholic beverage and appeared to be intoxicated. He was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment and was placed under arrest. The driver was transported to jail but refused to give a voluntary breath or blood sample. A blood warrant was obtained and the sample taken by jail medical staff. The sample was placed in evidence.
