Kennedale now has won seven of their last nine matches and 12 straight sets. Next up for the Kats is a non-conference game at Decatur on Friday night
This is measuring stick game for the Lady Kats. Decatur, 2014 State Champions (41-10), has been a state volleyball power for several years. Decatur has played in the state final four championship the past three years, winning consecutive titles the last two years.
The Lady Eagles did graduate 7 seniors off of last year?s championship team but have a strong program that will again challenge for the district title and once again should enter the playoffs as one of the favorite.
The current Lady Eagles (6-12) are coming off a win over 6A Denton Ryan (15-12) in five sets. In the game, Decatur won the first but then lost the middle two sets before taking the final two.
Kennedale and Decatur both own victories over Denton Ryan, Joshua, Burleson and Azle. And, like Kennedale, Decatur?s early schedule is seasoned with larger 5A/6A schools.
In the most recent MaxPreps rankings for Class 4A, Kennedale is #15 and Decatur is at #26.
The varsity game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Decatur High. It will be a match of interest to a number of 4A volleyball coaches across North Texas.
For Kennedale, it will not necessarily be who wins but it will be how well they play on the road against a state power program.
