The Kennedale Lady Kats Softball team (13-16-1, 7-3) wrapped
up their regular season with a 15-0 win over Venus (2-11, 2-8) Tuesday night in

The Lady Kats scored 12 runs in the 1st and then scored
3 more runs in the bottom of the third to end the game early. The Kats had 8
hits with no error. Every Lady Kats scored and 6 had hits.
Lady Kat pitcher {{t2:Jamie Franks:}} (Jr) was the winning pitcher, throwing 2
innings in the 3 inning game, allowing no runs with 2 hits. She faced 9 batters
throwing 31 pitches and 17 strikes.
?{{t2:Valerie Valesquez:}} (Sr) took the mound in
the 3rd and faced 4 batters, throwing 19 pitches and 11 strikes. She
allowed no hits, no runs, walked one and struck out another.

}} (So) went 1 for 2 with a triple and 3 RBIs

the game story ?
It was the bottom of the 1st that told the tale
of the game. It was an avalanche of hits starting with a double by {{t2:Lexi Neifert:
}} (Jr) after a walk by Franks and a pop-up out by Howard, the hitting began in
earnest. Schiele hit a line drive double scoring Neifert and Franks. {{t2:Ashley McElvany:
}} (Jr) followed with a pop-up single.
{{t2:Alyssa Bradberry:
}} (So) got on base
on a hit by the pitcher loading the bases. Velaquez reached base on a ground
ball error and Schiele scored and the Kats were up by 3. The Kats quickly scored two more when Calhoun
singled to left field. {{t2:Jenna Webb:
}}(Fr) and Neifert walked and Franks reached after a hit
by the pitcher. After both Velasquez and Calhoun scored when Howard hit her
triple that cleared the bases and the score was 10-0. After Schiele reached on ground ball error,
Howard scored. Bradberry?s double scored
Schiele and the Kats finished on top 12-0.
After going 3 and out in the 2nd the Kats scored
3 more with 2 outs when Bradberry singled followed by Calhoun doubled scoring
Howard, Bradberry and Velasquez. Game was called when the Kats reached 15-0.
?lost to Godley 3-2 …Last week, Kennedale fell to district leader Godley 3-2 in a
hard fought but error-filled game. After
both teams scored one run each, the score stayed tied 1-1 into the bottom of
the 6th when Godley one run.
The Lady Kats tied it back up in the top of the 7th but
couldn?t stop Godley from scoring the winning run in the bottom half. Kennedale
finished with 2 runs on 3 hits with 4 errors.
Godley had 3 runs on 6 hits with 5 errors.
Megan Calhoun for the Lady Kats pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowed
no earned runs, six hits while facing 30 batters. She threw 90 pitches and 59 strikes, walking one
walk with two strike outs. Mary Grace
Howard went 2 for 3 at the plate with one RBI.
playoffs start next week …Kennedale will be a third seed out District 7/4A. The
placements in the UIL State 4A Softball bracket has not been set yet. District
needing playoffs to determine seeding will be played this weekend.
