Top Athlete of the Year at SFA

The senior outfielder took home the 2017 Ralph Todd Award at SFA?s 2017 Champions Dinner on May 3.The award recognizes SFA?s top male athlete of the 2016-17 academic year and Michener is the first member of SFA?s baseball team to win it since Hunter Dozier did so in 2013.This season, the Kennedale, Texas, product leads the ?Jacks in hits (65), RBI (47), doubles (14), extra-base hits (24) and total bases (108). His RBI total is the third-best in the Southland Conference and he ranks ninth in the league in both hits and runs scored. (Note: not all of these figures are up-to-date as the Jacks are still playing.)Michener has blasted nine homers, good for the 10th-highest total in the league and his slash line of .333/.391/.552 includes the league?s 12th-highest slugging percentage.At Kennedale, Michener was a three letterman, all-state player at shortstop, memberof the 2011 State 3A Champion Wildcat Baseball team and in the off-season was the district MVP
quarterback and free safety for Wildcat football team.
