Last night in Nacogdoches, former KHS basketball star, Ty Charles, now a senior on the Stephen F Austin basketball team, reached the 500 mark in rebounds.? Charles should also break into the top ten SFA men’s basketball players for all-time steals this year.???Coming off the bench in last night’s win, Charles scored 20 points while shooting .692%. Charles is ?slowly but surely returning to his top form,? according to SFA head coach Kyle Keller.?

Charles is recovering from a number of injuries that plaqued his junior year including a fractured hand that sat him down for ten games. But, he was then and is still considered one of SFA best. In a pre-season review of the Lumberjack roster by SFA Basketball said ?When it boils down to in-game experience in an SFA uniform, no man on the ‘Jacks’ roster is in possession of more than Charles.?

SFA started hot this season but has cooled a little as it finds itself in 3rd third place in conference play after a surprising 100-92 loss to the University of Central Arkansas last week. Earlier this season they beat LSU by 1, lost to Missouri by 1 and corralled wins over Louisiana Tech and Rice while going 7-2 to open the season. They are still hoping to finish strong and earn another NCAA berth. They are at the halfway point of the conference play.?While at KHS …?

Charles was a three-star recruit according to rivals.com and ranked as the 33rd-best player in Texas. He was a three-year letterman at Kennedale High School under head coach Doug Groff while garnering all-district and district MVP honors as sophomore, junior and senior and being tabbed all-state twice.?Links:??Austin State University
