Kennedale – Sam Donald Gilley, 76, entered into eternal life on July 19, 2017 in Fort Worth following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. {{more: Read More …}}
Sam was born Sept. 17, 1940 in Goat City, TN, the youngest son of the late Lonnie and Gladie Gilley. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1959 and moved to Fort Worth. He later met and married Sharon Kay Elrod on Dec. 30, 1960.
Sam was a trim carpenter and helped construct Six Flags, Seven Seas, the Anatole Hotel and several structures for Harris Hospitals, to name a few. Sam loved spending time with family and friends and his beloved beagle, Maxi. He enjoyed working in the yard, antique auto’s and car shows, and could build or repair most anything.
He was a fun, loving husband and father with a kind heart and a great sense of humor. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife off 56 years, Sharon; sons, Billy and wife, Tina, of Kennedale, Bobby of Kennedale; brother, Eddie Gilley and wife, Linda, of Palo Pinto; granddaughter, Lucille Desiree Gilley, of Fort Worth; one great-granddaughter; nephews, Rockie Gilley and David Deaver; nieces, Connie Cross, Luanne Ferree, Lana Sather and Rita Pitavalle; and many other friends and family.
