Juwan Washington needed only 24 minutes to put away winless Dallas Carter. In one of the state?s top offensive displays of the season, Juwan shot through the defense like a thunderbolt, scoring all six of Kennedale?s first-half touchdowns and rushed for 304 yards on 26 touches in a 70-21 pasting of the Cowboys.
?He did all his damage in the first half; there was no need to keep him in there,? says Coach Richard Barrett. Washington scored three TDs in each of the first two quarters before heading to the sidelines.

In the opening period, he rumbled for scores of 54, 15 and 25 yards and added three more in the second as the Wildcats (now 5-0) took a 42-13 lead at the break. In five games, the San Diego State-bound tailback has rushed for 1,206 yards and 20 TDs, helping Kennedale to the No. 4 ranking in 4-A.
Juwan (5-7, 170 pounds), an all-state performer following his junior season, is just as accomplished on the track, where he helped the Wildcats? 4 x 100 relay team capture gold for the second straight year at the Class 3-A state meet when the Wildcats won the team title last spring. The holder of a solid B-average, Juwan reads to Kennedale elementary students and is involved with a local church youth group.
?Juwan is a great football player, but a better person,? raves Coach Barrett. ?Last weekend things got out of hand early and if he?d stayed in, Juwan would have added a few more yards and touchdowns. He?s a really special player!?
