In a game that seemed like it was not ever going to be played after being rescheduled twice because of last week?s weather, the #13 state ranked Kennedale Wildcat defeated Mineral Wells 79-59 in second round UIL playoff action at Brock High School Monday night. {{more}}
The Wildcats (28-6) and the Rams (21-12) know each other well having played each other many times over the years. Last year, Mineral Wells finished second to the Wildcats in District 6-3A.

The Rams had upset in mind coming into this game and the first half was almost a draw as Kennedale finished just 1 point ahead at 31-30. The lead went back and forth in the half with Mineral Wells gaining a 5 point lead late in the 1st half..
But, if the first half was a struggle, the 2nd half was a sprint as the Cats ran away with the game outscoring the Rams 48-29. V.J. Hughes led the way in the 3rd quarter putting in 16 points. Kennedale hit 4-5 three pointers in the 3rd and at one point had a 23 point lead in the second half.

To keep to the UIL playoff schedule, Kennedale will have less than 24 hours before they play in the Class 4A Region 1 quarterfinal against #5 Bridgeport at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Saginaw Chisholm Trail High School.
According to Wildcat Head Coach, Doug Groff, Bridgeport (29-4) is for real and that they deserve their # 5 ranking. This will be toughest challenge the Wildcats have had this season.
Bridgeport will also be playing on short notice. They defeated Iowa Park earlier in the evening by a score of 70-40.For the Wildcats in the Mineral Wells game, Brandon Conwright led all scorers with 22
with VJ Hughes just behind at 21 points.
Also scoring for Kennedale was Darius Hammond (8), Kole Hohenberger (6),
Stephone Jackson (6), Colton Otts (6), Blake Ingram (4), Quardraiz Wadley (4) and T.J.
Davis (2).
