The visiting 4A Kennedale Lady Kats were not kind to their host, the 5A Birdville Lady Hawks on Tuesday evening. Kennedale took an early advantage winning the first two sets before Birdville had a chance at winning one.
Not an easy one …
Kennedale won set one and two by the same score 25-19. But, Birdville turned the tables on the Kats and won set three by 25-19. In set four, Kennedale held off a determined Hawks team to win 25-23 and the match.
The win moved Kennedale to 11-1. Note: An earlier story by the Kennedale News had reported that the Kats were 11-1 before this game was played. Thanks to the Kats for making it a true statement.
Birdville fell to 2-2 on the year (5A and 6A teams have only recently been able to start their seasons). Last year the Lady Hawks finished 35-13 and made it to the second round of the UIL 5A playoffs. Two years ago the Hawks went five deep to the regional finals before finishing the year at 41-8.
