Kennedale, TX – September 8, 2023

The Kennedale Education Foundation (KEF) celebrated a successful return to fundraising with their first large-scale fundraising event in several years, held on September 7. The event, “A Night in Vegas”, raised over $28,000 to support local educators and launch a new scholarship program for students in Kennedale ISD! This is a record-breaking number for the foundation.

The event took place at the ARBOR Event Center in Arlington, Texas, and was catered by Bolles Appétit, a local catering business owned by KISD educators John and Melinda Bolles. The evening featured a variety of casino-style games, including poker and blackjack, alongside a lively silent auction with generous contributions from local businesses. Exciting prizes were awarded to the top ten players, adding an extra layer of competition and fun to the night.

The funds raised will play a critical role in providing vital resources through teacher grants, which directly enhance classroom experiences. Coinciding with the success of “A Night in Vegas”, KEF is excited to announce that the grant application period opened last week. Teachers are encouraged to submit their applications by October 18th for funding opportunities that will support innovative projects and enrich student learning. The foundation is eager to see the creative proposals that will emerge, knowing these grants will make a tangible difference in the lives of students and educators alike.

In addition to the teacher grants, part of the funds will be allocated to launch a new scholarship program aimed at assisting students in their pursuit of higher education and vocational training. This initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to enriching the educational experience and supporting students in reaching their full potential.

The success of this event highlights the partnership between the foundation and the Kennedale community. Plans are already underway to make this event an annual celebration, promising even more excitement and engagement in the future.

KEF extends its deepest gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers, attendees, and everyone else who made this event possible.
