Mackenzie Bay gives Kennedale Lady Kats late push to beat Andrews, 2-1

In a game of pitchers, the Kennedale Lady Kats took the first game of a best of three series 2-1 Friday night against Andrews in Clyde, Texas. But it took until the bottom of the seventh to secure the victory.

There was no score until the 4th, when Andrews finally put one across the plate {{more}}to take the lead 1-0. But with two on and one out, Kennedale ended Andrews chances of scoring more with a double play (Maegan Garza, C Trotter).

It was not until the bottom of the fifth that Kennedale tied the game with a single run off of a single by Jazyln Crowder, a sacrifice by Ciera Trotter and a double by Cheyenne Trotter scoring Crowder.

It was Mackenzie Bay who drove in the go-ahead run to give the Lady Kats the lead in the seventh inning and the victory. Rebekah Abair crossed the plate after reaching first on with a line drive error.

Andrews couldn’t get anything going as long as Kaitlyn Leeds was on the mound. Andrews managed just one hit off of Leeds, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during her three innings of work.

Kennedale and Andrews plays again Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clyde High School. ?If a third game is needed it will follow shortly after. ?This a regional semi-final series.?
