Playing their first 3A opponent this year, the Kennedale Wildcats dominated Dallas Wilmer-Hutchins for the first three quarters Friday night, winning 50-28 at Eagle Stadium.?
Senior running back, Donnie Darville, scored first for the Cats on a 15 yard run in the first quarter. Darville went on to score another touchdown and gained 138 yards on 22 carries for the night. Senior quarterback, Bradon Hull, made the 2 point conversion on that first touchdown. Next up was junior running back, Juwan Washington, scoring the second touchdown of the evening {{more}}on a 12 yard run. Washington finished the game with 218 yards on 22 carries and five touchdowns. He did have 45 yards in kick returns for a total of 263 all-purpose yards.

Kennedale ended the first half in command with a 22-6 lead and then stretched it to 37-6 before the Hutchins Eagles put some more points on the board in the fourth. The Eagles scored 22 points but Kennedale matched it with 20 Wildcat points. As a team, the Wildcats rolled up 451 all-purpose yards on the ground. The Wildcats never punted but did give up one interception and one fumble.

Sophomore Dailyn Wells led the defense with 10 tackles followed by junior Jake Michener who had 8 plus 2 interceptions. Taylor Thibeau (Jr), Hugo Giron (Sr) and Hunter McGahan (Sr) all had 7 tackles with McGahan recording 1 sack for 8 yard loss and 4 hurries. Zane Kottwitz (Jr) went 4 for 4 kicking extra points.

Next up for the Cats are the Argyle Eagles, a big 3A test. Argyle is a 3A team that is currently ranked #5 in the state and arguably an easy #1 pick. Argyle is 3-0 and has victories over 3A Abilene Wylie, Fort Worth Nolan Catholic and 3A Paris. The Eagles finished last year 11-2 and were a Division II Regional Semi-finalist and are an easy pick to go deep in the playoffs this year. Argyle is virtually returning the same team from last year with three tier-one players returning.

Kennedale will play in the 3A Division I playoff bracket. Argyle will play in the Division II bracket. As such this will be the only meeting of the two for this year. But it acts as a measuring stick for both teams. Kennedale will see how it compares to a top ranked 3A team after playing and losing to two strong 4A teams (Crowley and Mansfield Legacy) both who remain undefeated. Argyle tries to notch another win against a tradition 3A power.

The Cats has something to play for besides a win. Argyle embarrassed the Wildcats last year on the Eagles home field. This year Argyle visits for Kennedale?s Homecoming. To beat the high flying Eagles would be big, really big but not impossible. The Kennedale will have to put on a ?Johnny Football? game, coming to play every down with no missed tackles, no flubbed blocks or dropped balls and no let up.

Whatever happens Friday night, it will be a game to watch. A Barrett coached team is not one that anyone takes lightly.
