Kennedale had a good night on Friday with a solid 3-0 win by the Wildcats and a come from behind tie 3-3 for the Kennedale LadyKats. {{more}}
LadyKats
The Kennedale LadyKat (9-2-1) playing the early game at Wildcat Stadium entertained the high-flying Melissa Cardinals (15-0-2). Melissa entered the game outscoring their last eight opponents by 67-3 with 7 shutouts so far this season.
The game started out in Melissa?s favor with the Lady Cardinals scoring the first two goals. At 18:31 Abby Olmos scored for Kennedale. Two minutes later Melissa scored their 3rd and final goal of the night. At half the score was 3-1.
Kennedale scored the next two goals, stopping Melissa and tying the game. Ten minutes into the second half Allie Thornton scored to make it 3-2. Two minutes later Abby Key scored for Kennedale knotting the game at 3-3.
Wildcats
The bottom of the varsity double header saw the Wildcats (7-5-2) playing the Melissa Cardinals? boys soccer team (5-5-2).
For Kennedale it was a nice shut out of a ranked team since both teams are ranked in the MaxPreps top 20 teams in 4A soccer.
The Wildcats won on three goals by Marc Johnson at 14 minutes, 20 minutes and 24 minutes into the game. The rest of the game Kennedale successfully fended off Melissa
District Play
Both the LadyKats and the Wildcats start district play next week against Fort Worth Diamond Hill. This year Kennedale plays in District 8-4A, in a five team district that includes Alvarado, Keene, Diamond Hill and Venus.
Tuesday night at home in Wildcat Stadium, the Wildcats will play Diamond Hill at 6 p.m. and the LadyKat will play at 7:30 p.m.
