The James A. Arthur Whiz Quiz team finished the Intermediate Whiz Quiz season in first place in district competition coming from 4th place finish in the regular season. Arthur competes with four school from Mansfield ISD. {{more}}
The last time JAA finished in first place was in 2002, so they were very excited to have won again.
In the regular season matches, JAA had a record of 2-3 which placed them in fourth place going into the playoffs. The Arthur Whiz Kids had to play two matches to advance to the championship round and then won against Mansfield Asa Low Intermediate 65-35.
JAA will be hosting the awards ceremony on March 24. The members of the JAA team will each receive a gold medal and the school will receive a trophy. The second place team, Asa Low, will receive the silver medal. The members of the four remaining Mansfield teams will receive bronze medals.
The JAA Whiz Quiz team members are: Ellie Kate Beck, Grant Brennan, Mai Anh Do, Mikayla Earle, Leon Grant, Josh Gulseth, Maisy Inlow, Sarah Jennings, Allie Murphy, Ernie Prinz, Alexus Rockin, Christian Rockin, Clayton Thomas, Marcus Tidwell, Cris Vint, and Kenaj Washington.
The team scored a total of 695 points for the season. Top five scorers were:
- Cris Vint 295 points
- Mai Anh Do 95 points
- Josh Gulseth 95 points
- Allie Murphy 70 points
- Grant Brennan 50 points
