It started strong with cars lined up and down 287 (Kennedale Parkway) and became a local favorite afer Dairy Queen closed its doors down the street. Many a late night burger has been eaten there, hundreds of birthday parties, KYA drafts and after KYA game meals along with just old friends meeting daily and sharing a morning coffee or just an afternoon break.

Davis knows that former owner, Mike Barton, was a fixture at the store and well like. Plus, the store was closed for several months for renovations and everything looks different. Davis knows that he is going to have to rebuild the customer base, bringing back the old and getting new customers to come into the store.

We want to prove we can do it right …

?It is the same food and the same good service. There are lot of people who maybe a little intimated with the new look and afraid that it will not be the same. Then, those who had a bad experience, we want the chance to prove to those that we can do it right.?

Davis added, ?It?s going well. I think a lot of people still don?t think we are open yet. I get a phone call at least once a day from customers asking if we are open yet. So we are trying to make everyone aware we are open and we are going to have a big party and have some fun,? referring to the Grand Opening Parties scheduled for this Saturday, October 3 at 6 p.m. and next Wednesday, October 7, at 6 p.m.

He said one of the things that we want to do is bring back the Elvis impersonator once a week or every two weeks as far as Elvis and the live music.

It is what I do ?

?I have been with Burger Box several years now at the Euless location where I was manager. I have been managing stores about 10 years now, altogether. It is what I do.”

?It has been good [here in Kennedale]??Davis said. ?It really started out strong you know – the new, wow it looks good – but that died down. We are now working on getting a steady repeat business.

He mentioned the Burger Box has a Loyalty Program, ?We keep it by our cash register and they sign in with their phone number and they can earn free food. On their tenth visit they can get a free burger and just by signing up they get a free dip of ice cream. The Loyalty program works through text messaging. We send out coupons to our customers, buy one get one free and things like that. We are still working out what works best for the people of Kennedale.

Davis said that the number one seller is the Box Burger or the Double-Double. But, he said that they do a lot of grill chicken, salads, strip baskets, steak sandwiches and mushroom burgers. Chilly burgers are popular too. ?It just depends on what day it is and what people are hungry for that day.?

Nothing is pre-cooked …

He wanted to emphasis to everyone that Burger Box is not a traditional fast food restaurant.

?It may take a little more time. It is made to order and it is made in order that it is received. Nothing is pre-cooked. It is fresh every time. The average time is about 5, 6 minutes for a burger, chicken anywhere from 7 to 8 minutes. It just depends on what you order. At rush hour, it can be longer ? peak time is from 11 to 2 for lunch, dinner and breakfast rush can vary. If you order through the drive through, call ahead and it should be ready when you get there.

He is urging people to come by and give them a try. ?If you don?t have a good experience, let us know and we will make it right.?
