For the 1st Six Weeks, 237 students (of 503) had perfect attendance. A drawing was held to award prizes to some of these students. Justin Harper, Maddie Fail, and Alexus Jenkins won a free book of choice from the KJHS Book Fair. Fifteen students won a free ice cream. {{more}}

donated by the KJHS PTA for the Reading Caf? in the school library.

This past summer the Kennedale Junior High PTA purchased furniture for the Reading Cafe in the school library according to KJHS Principal Michael Cagle. ?The kids are loving it!? he said while thanking the PTA. “The library is a great place to do homework, read, research or get on computers during lunch.”
 

On September 19, Kennedale Junior High School students volunteered their Saturday morning to help clean-up the area of Kennedale’s Whitehead Cemetery, which was Kennedale’s first African-American cemetery. The cemetery dates back 150 years and is the burial site of sharecroppers who migrated to Texas from Georgia beginning in the 1870’s. The clean-up effort marks the beginning of a restoration project of the Kennedale Historical Society. Teachers leading the effort are Mr. Gross, Ms. Gross, and Ms. Trotter.

This coming Thursday, Wednesday, October 8, parents are encouraged to join Mr. Cagle for coffee at school at 7:15 a.m. This is a recurring monthly event the first Thursday of each month open to any parent or guardian.
