Wildcats Cheerleaders in first state spirit competition

Kennedale Cheerleaders are competing in the first ever UIL Spirit Competition this week. Day one kicked off yesterday (Wednesday, January 13) and will continue until Saturday at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). {{more}}
 
According to the UIL (University Interscolastic League ?Spirit is an extracurricular activity that focuses on the traditional game day role cheerleaders have on the sidelines and in schools supporting athletic teams. At the UIL Spirit State Championships schools will compete in three categories: fight song, time out band dance, and time out cheer.
 
The first day was for 1A , 3A and Small Coed. Thursday 2A and 4a schools compete including Kennedale. Friday is for 5A, Large Coed and 6A Band Dance. Each team will showcase its best sideline and crowd-leading material in the following categories: Fight Song, Band Dance and Crowd Leading. The use of crowd-leading tools such as signs, poms, flags and/or megaphones is encouraged.
 
The schedule for Thursday for Kennedale is 8:32 am “Crowd Leading” followed by “Fight Song” at 11:27 a.m. and finally “Band Dance” at 2:36 pm.

The competition team is composed of Nia Brown, Marlina

DeLeon, Mady Hamblin, Julia Lowry

(Captain), Emily Marr, Katie Miller, Baylee Moss, Madeline Orona (Captain), Paloma Rivera, Kolbi Sipho, Haley

Sloat, Tiara Taylor, Avery Tosh, Karley Vester, Chayton Yardley, Emily Zepeda

and Jordan Willingham. The team is

coached by Barbara Johnson, CTE teacher for Education Preparation at Kennedale High School.
