Kennedale (1-1), who is coming off an upset loss at Alvarado last week 21-14, returns home to host Wichita Falls Rider High School. The Rider HS Raiders come into the game at 1-2 and are coming off of their first win of the season. {{more:Read more … }}
 
Kennedale will be protecting their home field win streak and trying to regain their ranking in the 4A battles.

Rider High School is in Class 5A with an enrollment of approximately 1500 students. The school plays in District 5 which included Denton Ryan, Denton, Denison, Wichita Falls HS, Sherman and Denton Braswell. Last year, the Raiders finished at 7-5 overall and 5-2 in district play. They made the area playoffs before losing out to Everman in a 42-23 loss.

 
In week one, the Raiders lost big to Mansfield Legacy (2-1) by 50-19. In week two, Lubbock Coronado (3-0) barely survived the game with Rider and managed to come away with a 54-47 win. In week three, the Raiders beat winless Palo Duro team 41-28.

Rider lost almost all the offense last year returning just 2 starters. But, senior Willie Cherry (6?2?, 190) has returned from an injury last year at mid-season and currently has 24 completions for 356 yards and 3 touchdowns. Leading the team in rushing is senior Wade Phillips (6?0?, 210) with 307 yards on 54 carries for a 5.6yds average. In receptions junior Tre?Shawn Humphrey (6?0?) leads the team with 12 catches for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns. Overall, the team is averaging 316 yards per game with 167 by ground and 200 by air.
 
Rider returned 6 starters on a defense that has been called very physical. On the defensive front line, Rider returns senior Jose Barron (5?9?, 235 ? 85 tackles & 4 sack in ?15) and senior Shane Robertson (6?1?, 265 ? 55 tackles in ?15) and have added more defensive power with an out of state transfer, senior Bryce Hughes (5?11?, 185), who really came in as a running back but currently leads the team in tackles at 32. He was responsible for a blocked a field goal attempt last week that led to a 78 yard return for a Rider touchdown. He also made a crucial block downfield on that runback. Two weeks earlier against Coronado, he block an extra point and ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
 
Head coach is Mark Bindel. He is in his third year of coaching in the top spot, all at Rider High School. His teams have gone 8-5 and 7-5 the last two years and finished in the third in district each of those years.
 
football & volleyball Friday …
 
Kick-off is 7:30 p.m at Wildcat Stadium in Kennedale. The Kennedale Lady Kats volleyball team will be hosting Mineral Wells next door in the high school gym with the varsity playing at 4:30 p.m. The VB Kats will be looking for their 2 district win in as many games.
