three council seats up for grabs …
 
There are three seats up for election this year, City Council Places 1, 3, and 5. Those positions are currently held by Charles Overstreet, Mike Walker and Frank Fernandez. So far, they are the only ones who have officially filed for those positions according to Kennedale City Secretary Leslie Galloway’s office.
 
The filing deadline is two weeks from today a 5:30 p.m. February 17 for the May 6 election.

In an interesting twist, the opposition group which has frequently accused the council of not being open and transparent told Robert Cadwallader of the Star Telegram that the identities of their council candidates are being kept under wraps for now.
 
?We have not let it be known who they are,? Kennedale resident Allen Ray said. ?We?ve got about 95 people involved in this thing and ready to go hit the streets and get these people known.?

Ray also indicated that their maybe a campaign to recall Mayor Brian Johnson.
