The Porcupines of Springtown are on a roll and want to keep it that way. They opened the season with a 38-6 win over FTW Arlington Heights. They followed that with a 61-0 win over Sanger. And then last week while Kennedale took a win over Alvarado 42-40, the Pojos won a slugger against Glen Rose 49-43.

Kennedale and Springtown have played each other at least 22 times over the years and the Wildcats have the most wins but it is close, 12-9-1. Most of Kennedale?s win have come in the last several years and by large margins while they both have played in the same district. Springtown?s last win was recorded in 1989. So if Springtown can get ahead of Kennedale tonight, expect no mercy.

Texas Football had Springtown picked to finish third in District 4-4A this year with Wichita Falls Hirschi first, followed by Decatur. Mineral Wells, Gainesville and Burkburnett completes the district. However with Springtown?s strong start, District 4-4A maybe more of a toss-up than expected.

Last year the Pojos finished 4-1 in district play just behind Kennedale. Fifth year head coach Brian Hulett was expected to return 14 starters from last year?s team that was 6-6 on the season. The returning starters are split evenly on offense and defense.

They have a big time runner in junior Cameron Rickett who picked up 1,736 yards and 25 touchdowns last year. And they have an experience quarterback in senior Sawyer Drewry. These two have accounted for the majority of the offense for Springtown so far this year.

Through 3 games, Springtown is averaging 150.7 yards in passing and 288.7 rushing.

Senior QB Sawyer Drewry has thrown for 458 yard with a completion percentage of almost 60%. Has recorded 9 TDs along with 2 interceptions. He has also added 161 yards rushing at a 7.7 yard average on 21 attempts.

Running back Rickett has rushed for a total 522 yards in the three games played. He has 8 TDs and is averaging 9.7 per carry.

The receiving corps is led by senior Riley Comisky who has 8 catches for 133 yards and 3 TDs so far this season.
