The Kennedale Fire Department responded to 61 fire related calls in 2014 while EMS provided service in 643 calls. Overall, the department received 986 calls with 37 recorded as false calls. {{more}}
 
This and other information was provided to the City Council Monday night at the regular monthly council meeting.
 
Kennedale Fire Department Chief Mike McMurray gave the overview of the 2014 Annual Fire/EMS Incident Report during the council work session. The department received a Certificate of Appreciation from the State of Texas Office of the State Fire Marshal for participation in the 2014 Texas Fire Incident Reporting System.

The Fire Department recorded 15 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 17 other types of fires in the city limits. The KFD provided mutual aid to neighboring departments 17 times while receiving assistance 4 times last year.
 
Rescue calls involving EMS included 563 in area, all but 5 involved medical treatment. EMS gave assistance to other departments in another 80 calls and received aid from others 32 times.
 
Thirty calls involved hazardous conditions. Only one false call was classified as ?malicious?.
 
One civilian death was recorded in a house fire on Hillside Drive on December 9 of last year. The fire department responded immediately but the inside of the house was already engulfed in flames preventing rescue. Chief McMurray also reported that there were 3 department fire related injuries.
 
Total fire related loss in 2014 in dollars was estimated at $306,200.00.
