Big Signing Day for KHS LadyKat Soccer Seniors

It was a big day at the Kennedale ISD Media Center as five seniors off the Kennedale 4A 2015 State Championship Team sat down to sign college letters of intent to play from 5 different colleges. {{more}}
 

Signing on Wednesday were Claire Hamilton, Kylie Deel, Abby Olmos, Lauren Otts and Allie Thornton. These players have been the heart of a team that has gone 44-8-2 and 14 -2 in district play over the last two years, winning two district titles, earning a regional quarterfinals berth and a state championship.

Claire Hamilton

Claire Hamilton signed with East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. Hamilton earned All District honors the past two years with a 1st team selection last year and 2nd team in 2014. She was selected to the UIL 4A State All-Tournament Team last year. East Texas Baptist is a D3 school and plays in the American Southwest Conference. Hamilton will join new ETBU Head Coach Erik Solberg next year. Solberg is coming from NCAA Division II East Central University and also coached at NCAA Division I Nicholls State University. Kylie Deel

Kylie Deel signed with Angelo State University. Deel was 1st team All-District in her sophomore year. She won the Team Defensive MVP as a sophomore and junior, was District MVP Defensive Player last year. Angelo State is a D2 school playing in the Lone Star Conference. Last year the ASU Belles were 14-3-1, 8-2 and finished ranked #16 in the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association) rankings and are the defending conference champs. Check out ASU

Lauren Otts

Lauren Otts signed with the University of Texas of Permian Basin. Otts has won All-District honors as a sophomore and junior. In 2014 she made Honorable Mention and in 2015 she was 1st team All-District. The University of Texas of Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas is a D2 school playing in the Heartland Conference. The Heartland Conference includes St Edward?s in Austin, St Mary?s in San Antonio, Dallas Baptist, Texas A&M International, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Panhandle State, Oklahoma Christian, UA Ft Smith in Arkansas and Newman State in Kansas. Abby Olmos

Abigail ?Abby? Olmos signed with Midwestern State University. Olmos was 1st team All-District as a sophomore and led the team in assist with 22. Last year she was the District Offensive MVP and was named to the 2015 UIL State 4A All-Tournament Team along with the TASCO 2nd Team All-State. She won a LadyKat Team award for Offensive MVP for being second in goals made (28) and in assist (17). Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas is a D2 school in the Lone Star Conference. Head Coach Damian Clark in his third year and in the midst of a rebuilding program at MSU says, ?Abigail is really going to be fun to watch! She is very technical, and has the ability to really be dangerous. She can score goals in a number of ways, and can also make the last pass to create the goal for others.? See more at Midwestern

Allie Thornton

Allie Thornton signed with Southern Methodist University. Thornton was the District and Team MVP as a sophomore, making a 3rd of the team?s goals (35) along with 15 assist. Last year, she again won District and Team MVP honors and was named to the UIL 4A State All-Tournament Team as well as the TASCO 1st Team All-State. In January she was named the dfw 2015 High School Female ?Player of the Year.? She is one of the most honored female athlete at Kennedale High School this year. SMU in Dallas is a D1 school and plays in the Big 12. Chris Petrucelli is in his 5th year as head coach at SMU and 27th year as a head coach and working to build a nationally recognized program.
