Brennan and Melbourne Named National Merit Commended Students

Last month, Justin Marchel, Kennedale High School Principal, announced that Marissa Brennan and Jillian Melbourne have been named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program representing the top 5% of 1.5 million students participating. {{more}}
 
A Letter of Commendation from the school and from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these seniors as recognition for their exceptional academic promise.
 
Both Brennan and Melbourne are in the top 10% at Kennedale High School. Marissa plans to major in petroleum engineering and would like to attend UT Austin or Texas A&M. Jillian plans to major in Biology and is not sure of which school yet but does have a couple of favorites, Berkeley in California and UT in Austin.
 
Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2016 competition by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT?).
