Dear Water Committee:

It has been a meaningful commitment to serve on the Water Committee. My involvement stemmed from a heartfelt reaction to serve as a representative of the views and opinions of Kennedale citizens who felt their water and sewer rate increase earlier this year was excessive.

I presented 3 options to the Water Committee, and requested that one or more be presented to the City Council for consideration along with the other staff recommendations brought forward to the Water Committee. I was disappointed when the Water Committee made the decision to not allow any of the options I presented to be viewed or presented to the City Council. My belief was that the City Council would be presented with a diverse set of options representing the views of all citizens, and the City Council would make the final decision on what rate option to select based on their broad knowledge of all factors. Instead, the views and options of many citizens? will never be heard.

As a resident representing many concerned citizens in our city, I cannot be party to blocking the views and options of so many citizens from the City Council Chambers; therefore, I must resign from the Water Committee. This letter serves as my formal resignation from the Kennedale Water Committee effective September 16, 2016.

Sincerely,

Cathy Brown
