The camp, put on by Nike, brings in position coaches who have college and NFL experience as instructors. The camp bills itself as a chance for players to see where they excel and where they need to improve. The players say they are drawn by the opportunity to test themselves against top competition.

Tackle

Their 40 times, shuttle times, verticals, and strength are all meticulously recorded, and on-hand college scouts and coaches, analyzing every move.

The camp is free to attend and invites highly rated recruits and others who were recommended by coaches from the class of 2017. Several walk-up participants also attended.

?It?s pretty awesome; it?s fun,? said Gjemar Daniels a junior from Kennedale High, ?[The] goal is just to do your best, see who comes and talks to you; just get recognized, show everybody what I got.?

Barron Browning – KHS Junior Linebacker was declared the top 2017 Texas recruit.
The best players from each regional are invited to The Opening Finals, a four-day event in Oregon. Five local players received invites after the camp: offensive linemen Jack Anderson of Frisco and Xavier Newman of DeSoto, linebackers Baron Browning of Kennedale and Anthony Hines of Plano East and South Grand Prairie safety Jeff Okudah. More could be invited later.

Browning has Division 1 schools from around the country interested. Last month Browning ?de-committed? from Baylor to test the waters a little more. Just this week he was designated by HornSports.com as the #1 recruit in the State of Texas for 2017.

HornSport said that, ?The number one spot came down to two

players, but in the end ? we found that [Barron] Browning had one of the most

unique skillsets we?d seen in quite some time.?

There are 10 more regionals, where they’ll give out in-camp

invites. After that, organizers will select he best of the rest.
