Since joining the City of Kennedale in April 2009, Rachel Roberts has made invaluable contributions to planning and development related functions and has been a highly valued member of the Leadership Team. {{more: Continue … }}
 
She has overseen and managed the planning, zoning, building, and code enforcement divisions of the City in an effective and respected manner. She has been a frontline participant in the development of the City?s comprehensive planning efforts, the development and implementation of the strategic planning and visioning efforts, and in special projects relating to environmental sustainability.
 
During her tenure as the City?s top planning official, Kennedale has been recognized as a growing city placing priority on quality development and working to chart its future in an organized manner. That process has involved substantive citizen participation to maximize community achievement and the attainment of citizen objectives.
 

?Rachel is a very knowledgeable and experienced planning professional with a bright future ahead of her,? said City Manager George Campbell. ?Since my arrival in Kennedale I have heard accolades for Rachel from the staff, elected officials, and from our citizens. I have learned first-hand of her competence, her dedication to her professional standards, her commitment to Kennedale, and her strong work ethic. It has been a pleasure to work with Rachel, even for a relatively short time. I?m sorry to see her leave Kennedale, but wish her well as she continues in her career.?

  • Led updates of the comprehensive land use plan and zoning code
  • Updated development processes and oil and gas regulations
  • Co-founded the Kennedale Historical Society
  • Established and hosted quarterly birding workshops
  • Established the City?s digital mapping program
  • Created draft hike-and-bike trail maps and coordinated with regional

    VeloWeb project

  • Cross-trained staff to prevent lapses in service during absences and

    vacancies

  • Established intra-departmental training for more consistent code

    enforcement

  • Elevated Kennedale?s visibility and access to resources through

    regional partnerships

  • Updated forms and created handouts to help residents and property

    owners understand the permitting process and other requirements

Rachel?s resignation is effective September 30, 2017. She has accepted the position of Director of Development for the City of Crowley, Texas.
