It was more like the walking dead Friday night in the second quarter for the Wildcats playing at Springtown. Kennedale (22-10, 11-0) gave hope to 5th place Springtown (8-20, 3-8) that the night might just be theirs. After two, the Pojos led the 1st place Wildcats 18-17. {{more:Read more…}}

Sophomore Tre Jones had doubles with

It didn?t start out that way. The Cats had jumped out to a 13-4 lead in Q1 but then went cold in the next period giving the hometown crowd something to cheer about.

How bad was it in the 2nd quarter? The Cats went cold hitting only 1 of ten from the floor getting only half the defensive rebounds and 40% on the offensive boards. Springtown outscored the Cats 14-4 in the quarter.

Uniikye Washington (Jr) 15 points in Springtown win Staci Otts

The 3rd quarter told a different story with the Cats completely sweeping the boards on the defensive end and getting 80% of the rebounds on the offensive side, while hitting 7 of 13 from the field and going 2 for 4 on three pointers.

The Cats outscored the Pojos 16-6 in the quarter and then went on to take Q4 22-11. In the second half ,the Cats more than doubled the Pojos 38-17.
 

Thirty-five of Kennedale?s 55 points were scored by just two Wildcats, sophomore Tre Jones with 20 and junior Uniikye Washington with 15. Overall Jones had hit 9 of 11 shots while gathering in 11 rebounds and getting 5 blocks and 2 steals.

The Cats have won their fifth straight district title and their 10th in the last 14 years under Head Coach Doug Groff.
 
Tonight the Cats finish out the regular season and district play at home against Benbrook High School with the varsity game scheduled for 8 p.m. It will be Senior Night, honoring senior players on this year?s Wildcat team.

Having won District 7-4A and secured a playoff spot, the Cats are playing for one more regular season goal, an undefeated district season. It would make it 6 out the last 10 district titles that the Cats have gone without a loss.
