Depending upon the successful candidate?s background and qualifications, it is anticipated that the salary range will start at $89,000, and will also include a city emergency vehicle and cell phone.

The city has a full benefit program including vacation, sick leave, 12 paid holidays, group health and dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, optional deferred compensation, and optional short-term disability, cancer, and accident plans. The city pays 100% of an employee?s cost of the core medical insurance plan. The city?s participation in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) is at the maximum 7% contribution level, with a 2:1 match and 5-year vesting.

Required education will include an associate degree in Fire Science or relatedfield (bachelor?s degree preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in fire safety and administration. A combination of education and years of service may be substituted for a bachelor?s degree. In addition to the following:?
  • Advanced Firefighter certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection
  • Fire Officer II, Fire Officer IV preferred
  • Fire Inspector
  • Fire Investigator
  • Fire Instructor II
  • NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800
  • Certified EMT Paramedic
