Council rescinds water rates but no decision on replacement

Council to meet again tonight
 
After a 4.5 hours council session last night, the Kennedale City Council voted to recess for the evening and recovene tonight at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. {{more: Read more …}}
 
The only item left on the agenda is a decision on new water/sewer rates.
 
The Council did vote to rescind the current water rate system in the meeting last night. But, after several hours of listening to a presentation from the Water Rate Committee and hearing public comments on the issue, the council agreed that a late night decision on new rates would not serve the best interest of the community.
 
The council wanted more time to discuss the options presented in the presentations. The meeting was recessed at 11:25 p.m.
 
The meeting tonight will be a contiunation of the previous night’s meeting. The public hearing portion is over. All that is left is for the council members to discussing options among themselves and vote the on new water rates.
