Elisha Woodson Files for School Board Seat – first to file

? ? ?The first candidate has declared for a seat on the KISD School Board. Elisha Woodson filed February 14th for Place 4. She gave the Kennedale News the following statement.

? ? ?”I am a mother of two boys, a seventh grader at Kennedale Junior High and a three year old future Delaney wildcat. I am completing my bachelor’s degree and upon completion will be a certified educator in secondary science. ?{{more}} I have lived in Kennedale for seven years and have been involved in many nonprofit organizations including Kennedale Youth Association, Delaney PTA and Kennedale Athletic Booster Club. I look forward to supporting my community and making a difference in children’s lives through education.”

? ? ?There are two seats or places on the board that are up for election this year. These are for three terms. Place 4 is currently filled by Janet Adams who has not filed as of this posting. The other place, Place 5, on the board is currently occupied by Board President Mike Walker. He has not filed for re-election at the time of this posting. (The position of president of the Board is not tied to a specific seat or place. After each election the ?new? board conducts an election for new officers). Filing for either of these positions closes Friday, March 1, 2013. Elections will be held May 11th. Early voting begins April 29th.

? ? ?A third place, Place 7, is open in a special election as of Wednesday, 27th due to an earlier resignation on the KISD Board. This election is for the one year left on the 3 year term. ?Filing for this open seat closes March 11th. ?Election day for this position is also May 11th. ?Early voting begins April 29th.
