Just imagine that you are sitting around one day minding your own business and someone walks up to you and ask if you would like to work for the Dallas Cowboys for a month or so.

The Cowboys will fly you out to the Cowboy training camp in Oxnard, California. They will provide you a hotel suite and let you eat with the team. You will work with Tony Romo and maybe you will get a chance on your time off to go ?one on one? with Dez Bryant in a pick-up basketball game. Later, you will fly with the team to the Hall of Fame game, the first NFL game of the 2014 season and the first game for the Cowboys. What would you say? ?{{more}}

Let me think about it? – not hardly! And if you are Logan Barrett, you start packing immediately. Logan is a 2008 graduate of Kennedale High School and the son of Kim and Richard Barrett of Kennedale. Richard Barrett is the KISD Athletic Director.

Logan, in one of those being in the right place at the right time moments, was given that dream opportunity this summer. He didn?t hesitate and he spent July and August with the Cowboys. Now don?t get the wrong idea, it wasn?t just luck. Logan had a skill the Cowboys needed. And he would be expected to spend long hours during and after practice working into the night, long after everyone else is through for the day. But for Logan as the ad says it has been ?priceless?.
?
Barrett played all four years for his father at Kennedale High School as a quarterback and then kicker where he earned all-district and all-state honors and received a scholarship to play at UTEP. He later transferred to Stephen F Austin to play where he is now finishing his degree and working as a graduate assistant in the athletic program.

While playing at SFA he suffered an injury that sidelined him. It was during this time he was assigned video-taping duties ? taping and editing games and practices. He became good enough that when someone from the Cowboy organization with contacts at SFA asked if there was anyone they knew who could video and edit, Logan was recommended.
?
It has been a surreal experience for the former quarterback. During practices he stands behind Tony Romo or one of the other quarterbacks as they call a play. When the play is called, Barrett relays the information to the cameramen filming the plays so they will be able to cover the play as it develops. Later on after practices, they assemble the video so that players and coaches can study the film. He was there videoing the game at the annual Hall of Fame game. Later after flying back to California that night and after everyone else had gone to bed, he was helping to edit the film for the next day.

With the Cowboys return to Valley Ranch, Logan will be returning to school with hopes of another call in December when he has graduated. This time if it comes, it will not be so surprising. Oh yes, the pick-up game with Dez did happen. You will have to ask Logan who won.
