In Kennedale City Council elections result from Saturday, incumbents were the rule of the day. Winning re-election based on unofficial result were Charles Overstreet, Mike Walker and Frank Fernandez.
 
Fernandez was the only incumbent to draw an opponent, businessman Hollis Matthews. In unofficial results Fernandez had received 66.12% to 33.88% of the vote or 283 votes to 145 votes for Matthews. {{more}}

Hollis’ campaign was directed as establishing working relationships with the Kennedale School District and the City of Arlington to support such projects as a ?community? youth center and sidewalks along Sublett Road from Steeple Chase to 287, something that is outside the city limits of Kennedale.
 
Fernandez spoke of working within the city?s limit budget to address the growing population and major economic/civic developments in the city.
