TALLADEGA ? Sadie Fleschner made her signing with the Talladega College women?s basketball team official on Thursday at Callanan Gym.

TC head coach Romeo Lagmay believes the 6-2 post player from Kennedale High School in Kennedale, Texas has a lot of potential.
?
?My assistant coach Tarniesha Scott was doing some research online in her area as far as what prep players were coming out that were unsigned at the time,? Lagmay explained. {{more}}?So, my assistant coach basically showed me game film of her and asked me if I was interested, if I saw any potential and wanted to further pursue it. After reviewing the game film, I told coach Scott ?Let?s go ahead and do it. There is a lot of potential in her.?
?
?There are some things we may need to refine and fine tune in terms of offensive shooting, defensively ? maybe some lateral movement on the perimeter instead of just being on the blocks. After speaking to her and coach Scott speaking to her, it was kind of one of those deals where the chemistry fit and we were along the same lines of what goals we both wanted.?
?
Fleschner?s high school head coach, Mindy Youngs, believes Fleschner will bring multiple qualities to TC.
?
?She was just a good finisher underneath the basket,? Youngs said. ?She was someone that we could throw the ball to and know that she was going to make a good, strong move. She?s a good rebounder. The most important thing about Sadie is her work ethic. I know Talladega ? they?re getting a hard worker with Sadie. She?s always in the gym. She?s just a really hard worker, a really good person, makes great grades.?

On a talented Kennedale (31-7) team that had five of the team?s six seniors sign college basketball scholarships, Fleschner averaged 4.9 points per game, five rebounds per game, one assist per game and one steal per game during her senior season. The team finished as the state?s 3A runner-up and had all six seniors sign college scholarships, with one senior receiving an academic scholarship. In one of her better performances of the season, Fleschner scored 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out three assists in a win against Diamond Hill-Jarvis.
?
Specifically, Lagmay foresees Fleschner being a great match in what he hopes to accomplish on the offensive end of the floor.
?
?We?re hoping that she comes in here using her strength and helping out in the post area using size,? Lagmay said. ?From what I?ve known and what I?ve seen on game film, it looks like she?s going to help us a lot with a lot of our pick-and-roll offenses and rebounding strengths as far as boxing out our opponents that have some size as well.?
?
Fleschner felt positive to formally sign her scholarship letter.
?
?It?s an amazing feeling, knowing that I?m going to be able to pursue what I love to do and play basketball and also going to college free, because my parents are struggling,? she said. ?But this helps a lot.?
?
Fleschner added that she felt TC?s coaches understood her situation.
?
?The coaches were a lot better than other coaches,? she said. ?Coach Scott ? she talked to me personally, she came up and she worked with me. She said she could help because other colleges were offering only partial (scholarships). That was a little hard (to) do because of my parents. She was like ?What if I can help so it?s all cleared?? We talked about it and that was how it happened.?
?
Fleschner said her goals in her first season at TC are to earn a starting spot on the roster and win a national title. Lagmay won the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national championship in 2010.
?

Lagmay is excited to have her come in right out of high school to learn his brand of basketball.
?I?m just really glad to get her as a freshman so she can learn what type of post moves I?m looking for,? he said. ?She comes in strong academically. Really we?re looking for her to just clean up once inside and in the paint.
