Dave Campbell?s Texas Football magazine has placed the Kennedale Wildcats number 18 in their preseason poll. Other Region I teams in the top 25 are No. 8 Abilene Wylie, No. 9 Graham and No. 20 Alvarado. Stephenville at No 1 is tabbed by Texas Football to beat Abilene Wylie for the Region I title and lose to Carthage in the Division I title match.
In District 6-3A, Kennedale is picked to repeat as district champion followed by Springtown, Lake Worth, Mineral Wells, {{more}}Castleberry and then Diamond Hill. Juwan Washington has been designated as the preseason MVP for the district.
The big change in 3A this season is that four teams will make the playoffs meaning that two of the six teams in Kennedale?s district will be staying home this season instead of three.
Campbell?s magazine did note that the Wildcats made a surprising run in the playoffs last year and may do the same this year.
The season opener will be against Crowley High School at Wildcat Stadium, August 30.?
