Iowa Park Athletic Director and Head Coach Aubrey Sims and his Hawks will be playing a homecoming game against Wichita Falls Hirschi Athletic Coordinator and Head Coach Danny Youngs and his Huskies.

For both of them the path to their Friday night showdown led through Kennedale as did two other current head coaches, Casey Walraven at Grandview and James Polk at Snyder. The common thread for all of four is Kennedale Athletic Director and Head Coach Richard Barrett and Aubrey Sims.

Sims and Youngs actually started out together at Brewer Junior High School in White Settlement ISD some 15 years ago before going separate ways.

Sims was hired by Kennedale Athletic Director Richard Barrett. While at Kennedale, Sims became the offensive coordinator before leaving in 2005 to become the athletic director and head coach at Grandview ISD.

During this time period, Barrett hired James Polk who became offensive coordinator for the Wildcats after Sims left. Barrett had also hired Casey Walraven as an assistant Kennedale football and basketball coach.

Walraven followed Sims to Grandview where Sims also hired Youngs to direct his defense. Later Sims recommended Danny Youngs to Barrett who hired him to be Wildcat defensive coordinator.

After taking the Grandview Zebras to seven straight winning seasons and a state quarterfinal finish, Sims left to take the athletic director and head coaching job in Snyder ISD. Walraven who had remained at Grandview was hired as the Athletic Director and Head Coach, replacing Sims. Under Walraven, Grandview is currently 4-0 and ranked #10 in Class 3A.

At Snyder, Sims hired Polk away from Kennedale to be his offensive coordinator. But after two years at Snyder, Sims was hired by Iowa Park to be Athletic Director and Head Coach. Polk, his assistant and former Kennedale assistant, was then hired by Snyder as Athletic Director/Head Coach.

Sims arrived in Iowa Park in time to put in a good word for his old friend and Kennedale?s defensive coordinator, Danny Youngs, who was applying for the head job at Hirschi. Friday night they face off as head coaches.
