According information provided to parents, James and Len Roof, the Cooper selection committee reviewed over 30,000 Hudl videos before selecting the top 60 ninth grade football players, with 30 players selected for the East and 30 for the West. The Classic, named for Bret Cooper, is a middle school All-American bowl game and one that factors academic achievement and character in the selection. As part of the selection criteria the athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Junior

Spencer was the starting quarterback and free safety for the KHS Freshman football team this year. Their squad went 4-1 in district play including a 54-49 come from behind win against Lake Worth. Spencer threw a 35 yard TD pass with 13 seconds left to get the win for the Wildcats in the season finale. He also rushed for 3 touchdowns in that game as well.
 

Spencer was one of two freshmen moved up to play on Kennedale’s varsity squad during the varsity?s playoff run. Head Coach Richard Barrett moved him to a back-up running back for the playoffs saying that this was where he was needed the most.
